We at Liberty Discount Fuel, with the help of our generous community, love to do our part in spreading joy. It is important to us that we do our part in strengthening the family as a unit. During the winter holiday season we focus on the children by annually collecting toys for children of underprivileged families. This drive not only brings the children joy but also the employees. This year we were able to collect about 200 toys because of the contributions of our wonderful customers! The toys were distributed between Toys for Tots, the Army Depot, the Hamilton School District through the Nehemiah Center.
Members of Liberty and their families also volunteered at the Army Depot separating the toys and hand writing cards for the children of the Hamilton School District. One of their favorite moments was when they got to see the impact of their efforts.
“We worked closely with one woman. She had lost her job and as a single mom was worried that she wouldn’t be able to provide any gifts for her young son. She said that all her son wanted was a toy vacuum so he can ‘help mommy at home’. We were able to provide her with the toy vacuum as well as a toy broom and dust pan, and a scooter. When we were able to provide these things to her, she started crying. The best part is that she gets to take them home, wrap them, and give the gifts from her. She gets to see that look on her son’s face when he opens his gifts and she got him exactly what he wanted.”
